After the Civil War, social Atlantans began taking day trips to Vinings for all-day picnics and swimming in the Chattahoochee River. Vinnings was the perfect spot: nestled under trees beside a river. The Pavilion where they danced and gathered is still standing and preserved by The Vinnings Historic Society.
Late in the 1960s, Felix Cochran began acquiring property in the Vinnings area. He dreamed of an authentic town center that honored its past, while embracing its future. Vinnings Jubilee, a beautiful and celebrated grouping of buildings that reflect Vinnings’ Victorian period, now stands as downtown Vinnings and offers diverse shopping and dining options.
Only 12 miles north, inside the Perimeter, the quaint town of Vinnings is close to everything in Atlanta, but is decidedly quieter and slower. Residents and visitors love Vinning’s suburban feel - without the suburban commute.
